About this work
A page from the Kachō gafu album, plate 14, by Kōtei Fukui, dated 1898, shows three butterflies on a pale ground: a large blue and brown swallowtail-type butterfly with red spots, a small white butterfly, and a yellow butterfly at upper left. The Japanese title character appears at the top and a signature with red seals sits at lower left.
