About this work
This triptych print by Kitagawa Utamaro shows several women in patterned kimono preparing and stretching cloth beside a wooden tub, with a child holding a lantern and a rooster nearby. Bamboo, a blossoming tree, and a red parasol frame the scene. The work is dated 1793-1804 and is held by the museum.
