About this work
A double-page title spread of Tsuki no Hyakushi by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, dated 1885-1892, showing numerous small colored poem cards arranged across a pale green ground. The cards carry handwritten calligraphy in black ink, with red, green and yellow panels, and a faint botanical pattern of leaves and grasses runs beneath them.
