About this work
This Japanese woodblock print shows a crowd of armored samurai gathering on a curving wooden bridge, with a mounted rider and attendants at the left and a massed group of retainers with spears and bows advancing from the right. The bridge's trestle supports and snow-dusted rails are rendered in strong diagonals beneath a pale sky.
