About this work
A hand-colored woodblock style print shows several white cranes with red crowns and dark tail feathers, some standing in shallow water and others gathered among green reeds in the foreground. The soft pink, gray, and pale blue washes create a quiet wetland scene. This plate, titled Kachō gafu, Pl.03, is attributed to Kōtei Fukui and dated 1898.
