About this work
A small brown bird with a rust-colored breast perches on a curving dark branch among green leaves and a hanging seed pod, rendered in ink outline with soft color washes. The composition leaves a wide area of pale paper below and to the left, with a red seal impression in the lower left. This print, Kachō gafu, Pl.10, was made by Kōtei Fukui in 1898.
