About this work
A hand-colored print titled Village by Joseph Scholz, dated 1829 to 1880, shows a village street lined with half-timbered houses and a church on a hill. A shepherd leads a flock of sheep and a dog past horses, a horse-drawn cart, and several villagers under a large leafy tree. Captions in Italian, English, Danish, German, and Dutch appear along the bottom margin.
