About this work
This woodblock print by Kawase Hasui, titled Kiri no Miyajima (Miyajima in mist) and dated 1947, shows the red-pillared shrine buildings and stone lanterns of Miyajima standing over calm water. Soft grey mist and layered pine trees fill the background, and the still water mirrors the structures and lanterns.
