About this work
A hand-colored print titled Harvest by Joseph Scholz, dated 1829 to 1880, shows rural workers in a wheat field. In the foreground a woman in a blue skirt and orange headscarf eats beside a reclining man in a straw hat, while a dog sits near a basket and jug under a large tree. Further back, figures gather sheaves, a loaded cart moves along a road, and a church spire rises on the distant horizon.
