About this work
A hand-colored etching shows a dessert stand with a central candle holder, flanked by purple grapes and yellow pears among green vine leaves. The stand rests on a fluted silver dome cover, and the whole arrangement is set against a pale tinted background. Printed text beneath the image carries verses, and the work is titled A Desert. Imitation of modern fashion by William Heath, dated 1827-1829.
