About this work
An engraved print showing a series of studies of human heads arranged in rows, with dotted guidelines marking facial proportions and circles and squares used as construction devices. The sheet moves from simple geometric head structures to fully rendered faces in frontal, three-quarter, and profile views, including a bearded older man. This study of faces is attributed to Paulus Pontius, dated 1616 to 1657.
