About this work
A lithographic cartoon titled 'He used to be ‘A Menace’ - now he finds himself a fad' by John Samuel Pughe, dated 1906. A shaggy-bearded man in a green coat, labeled 'Foreign Socialist', is greeted with a 'Welcome to America' sign by well-dressed hosts who offer him invitations and champagne. An inset oval shows him earlier among agitators with red banners and a policeman, captioned 'In Former Days'.
