About this work
A chromolithographic caricature shows a procession of exaggerated male figures in top hats and period clothing marching along railway tracks toward a distant domed capitol. A decorated expansion train with bunting and a banner reading Expansion Train waits behind them, and a figure carrying a drum labeled Anti Expansion Band walks in the group. The work is attributed to John Samuel Pughe and dated 1899.
