About this work
A chromolithographic political cartoon shows caricatured figures in military dress playing drums labeled with reform and party slogans, such as Grant Boom, Civil Service Reform, and Independence. A stall at right holds barrels marked political honesty and tariff reform, beside a sign reading New Drums for Old Drums. The work is signed by Bernhard Gillam and dated 1883.
