About this work
A dense chromolithographic political cartoon shows newspaper boats on the left firing cannons at a fortified stack of bills, labeled with terms such as corrupt bills, logrolling, and pension arrears. On the right, turbaned figures crowd before the U.S. Treasury and a domed Capitol while a bomb labeled exposure sits on the paper stacks. The work is attributed to Bernhard Gillam and dated 1882.
