About this work
A chromolithographic emblem for the International Longshoremen's Association, dated 1901 and printed by W.J. Morgan & Co. A central portrait of George Washington sits beneath an eagle and American flags, flanked by a Bible labeled "Our Guide" and a scroll reading "In Union Is Strength," with a handshake and the motto "All Work Is Noble." The lower register shows a steamship at sea beside dock equipment, cargo, shovels and a coal bucket, with blank name and local number fields.
