About this work
A woman in a red and blue patterned kimono adjusts her hair ornaments on a wooden veranda beside a flowering tree, while a second figure appears behind a railing. The sliding door at right has a dark wood-grain pattern, and a signature cartouche is visible on the panel. This Japanese woodblock print, titled Mage o naosu yūjo, is attributed to Tsukioka Yoshitoshi and dated 1860.
