About this work
A sepia-toned lithographic print titled Barbara Frietchie, published by W.J. Morgan & Co. in 1896. A mounted officer raises a sword before marching soldiers while an elderly woman in a white cap waves a flag from an upper window of a house, and a portrait of an older woman floats above the smoky scene. Smaller vignettes show a cemetery and a long column of troops along the street.
