About this work
A cloaked man stands in the foreground on a rocky ledge, one arm raised toward a luminous, floating female figure rendered in soft, diffuse tones. Dense dark foliage and drifting clouds surround the apparition, and the lithograph's loose hatching creates a dreamy atmosphere. The print is a work by Henri Fantin-Latour dated 1885 and titled The Fairy of the Alps.
