Henri Fantin-Latour
259 works
Fantin-Latour found recognition for his flower paintings in England, while it was said they were practically unknown in France.
Born in Grenoble, he had his first drawing lessons from his father, who was also a painter. He entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1854, and Degas was one of his classmates. Whistler encouraged him to make several stays in London, and one of his still lifes was shown at the Royal Academy in 1862. He also painted group portraits of artists and writers, such as A Studio at Les Batignolles with Manet at the centre. Browse 259 works by Henri Fantin-Latour from 45 museums, free to download in HD.
