About this work
A richly colored political caricature shows a large ape-like figure in a top hat and waistcoat, labeled with an Irish Vote belt, standing on a pedestal in a legislative chamber. Surrounding congressmen hold up papers reading Bill to Manufacture Dynamite and Restrict Mute, while kneeling men present documents such as Sympathy with Fenianism and Denunciation of England.
