About this work
A two-panel colour print contrasting a snowy scene of mounted Cossacks whipping a crowd of bundled figures chained together with a city scene of laughing men in top hats and fur hats, some wearing placards marked DUMA, and a mounted officer amid onion-domed buildings. A circular imperial double-headed eagle emblem sits at the centre top. The work is attributed to Carl Hassmann and dated 1907.
