About this work
A colorful chromolithographic satire shows a crowd of disordered soldiers, a marching band with a drum marked Kuropatkin, and a wagon labeled Ikon Supply Co. loaded with religious icons under a rising sun. Signposts read To Moscow and To Mukden, and one soldier's sign asks to be taken back to dear old Nijni-Novgorod. The print is by Carl Hassmann, dated 1905.
