About this work
A man in a richly patterned blue and red robe sits on a woven wicker bench beneath a drooping willow, gazing toward a full moon in a teal night sky. He holds a large round fan beside him, and the scene is framed by a pink and cream cartouche with Japanese calligraphy. This Japanese woodblock print by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi dates from 1885-1892.
