About this work

A magazine cover titled The Ladys’ Graphic. April 1909, attributed to Ishikawa Toraji and dated 1907, shows two women viewed from behind beneath a blossoming cherry tree. The figure on the left wears a pale kimono with a yellow obi printed with red maple leaves, while the figure on the right wears a black kimono with a red and yellow chrysanthemum pattern and a yellow ribbon in her hair. Pink petals fall across a blue background, and Japanese text appears in the red masthead and in the margin.
