About this work
This 1909 magazine cover by Ishikawa Toraji shows two stylized women in patterned kimono, one rising above the other against a green field of pine needles and falling pink petals. Flat bands of red, yellow and green form the robes, and a yellow vertical panel carries Japanese text beside the English masthead reading The Ladys Graphic, March 1909.
