About this work
A hand-colored print titled Unai no tomo, Pl. 153, by Shimizu Seifū, dated 1913, shows a stocky, round-bodied figure with a red face, angry brows, and red markings on a white body. The figure wears a red sash, a striped blue and white wave pattern at the waist, and red-striped white legs, and holds a gold-hilted object, while gray panels with white diamond shapes frame it. Japanese handwritten text appears on the page beside the figure.
