About this work
A night seascape in muted grey and blue tones shows a broad expanse of water with silvery highlights reflecting a pale band of light near the horizon. Dark rooftops and a shoreline appear in the lower left foreground, and a red seal and inscription sit in the lower right corner. This Japanese woodblock print, titled Nacht in Shinagawa, was made by Negoro Raizan in 1922.
