About this work
A woodblock print titled Beppu no asa (Dawn at Beppu) by Kawase Hasui, dated 1928. Several wooden boats with tall masts and rigging are moored along a quiet harbor under a pale crescent moon and a gradient sky shifting from deep blue to soft pink near the horizon. Dark hills rise on the right and distant headlands fade into the haze on the left, while the still water reflects the boats and a faint shimmer of light.
