About this work
A Japanese woodblock print in the Utagawa Hiroshige tradition shows a group of samurai gathered by a moat in front of a multi-tiered castle with green-roofed towers and stone walls. Several men in layered robes and swords kneel or stand around low tables holding cups, scrolls and a tied paper bundle, while a stone wall and wooden bridge frame the scene.
