About this work
This triptych print shows several elegantly dressed courtesans in patterned kimono, some standing and some seated, within a teahouse-style interior with a bamboo screen and blooming plum branches. A tea kettle on a brazier and an open book on a low table appear in the right panel. The work is attributed to Toyokuni Utagawa and dated to the mid- or late 1790s.
