About this work
A woman in a dark lacquered headdress and a purple kimono sits at the edge of a wooden boat, gazing down into its interior where a dark object with a red cord rests beside a round white disc. Trailing green vines hang across the pale background, and the kimono is decorated with flowers and a wicker basket. The work is a Japanese woodblock print by Kamisaka Sekka, dated 1909-1910.
