About this work
A colored lithograph shows several paddle steamboats moving along the Hudson River past wooded highlands under a cloudy sky. The largest vessel, labeled Drew, carries crowds of passengers across its multi-tier decks, with two smaller steamers and a towed barge following behind. This 1874 print by Currier & Ives presents the river traffic as a scene of busy commercial travel.
