About this work
An engraved interior view of the United States Senate chamber, showing a standing speaker addressing rows of seated legislators while spectators fill the upper gallery beneath a chandelier and a carved eagle. The composition is printed in fine crosshatched lines, and the title and dedication appear along the lower margin. This print reproduces Peter Frederick Rothermel's painting of the Senate, dated 1855.
