About this work
A kneeling woman in a green floral kimono and blue haori works on a sand painting in a shallow lacquered tray, while a black lacquer box and a small brush rest nearby. Vertical calligraphic inscriptions and seals fill the upper background. This Japanese woodblock print is attributed to Utagawa Kunisada (Toyokuni III) and dated 1820.
