About this work
A woodblock-style print shows a nocturnal Shinjuku street scene with a lattice steel tower, a stone lantern-like structure, and a man in a long coat and hat standing on the roadside. Low modern buildings, a utility pole, and a parked car occupy the background under a dark sky. The work is titled Shinjuku at night, by Maekawa Senpan, dated 1945.
