About this work
A hand-coloured celestial chart shows the bull of Taurus rendered in brown and tan tones, with its horns, head and forelegs set against a deep blue sky crossed by a pale band of the Milky Way. Gold-rayed stars mark the constellation, and a red dashed line runs horizontally across the scene. This is Johann Bayer's Taurus from 1603, a print in the Uranometria star atlas.
