About this work
A hand-coloured star chart shows the twin figures of Gemini embracing, one holding a sickle and the other a lyre-like instrument, set against a dark blue sky marked with gold stars and white grid lines. Johann Bayer's constellation plate, dated 1624, depicts the zodiac sign in a classical celestial style.
