About this work
This hand-coloured star chart shows the constellation Eridanus as a winding river of pale water lined with reeds and grasses, with stars marked in gold and labelled with Greek letters. Rocky outcrops rise along its banks against a deep blue sky, and a pale band of the Milky Way crosses the upper left corner. The work is titled Eridanus, by Johann Bayer, dated 1624.
