About this work
A swan in flight is painted against a deep blue night sky, its wings spread wide and its long neck extended across a pale band of the Milky Way. Gold star symbols and fine white lines mark the constellation's outline and surrounding stars. This is Johann Bayer's Cygnus from 1624, a celestial chart print.
