About this work
A hand-colored star chart shows the constellation Crater as an ornate golden cup with handles set against a deep blue sky, with stars marked by Greek letters. A striped band of lighter blue lines runs across the top, and thin pale lines trace the surrounding constellation boundaries. This print by Johann Bayer is dated 1624.
