About this work
This hand-colored star chart shows the constellation Cassiopeia as a seated woman in a red headdress and draped pink and white robes, holding a green palm frond against a deep blue sky. Gold star markers and white constellation lines are drawn across the figure and the surrounding sky, and she sits on a yellow throne. The work is a print attributed to Johann Bayer, dated 1624.
