About this work
A lithographed caricature map of Europe in which each country is drawn as a human face or figure, with Russia shown as a large face wearing a military cap and monocle. A hot air balloon labeled L'Europe comique floats at the left, and a smiling sun and crescent moon appear at the top. Achille Belloguet's print of 1867 is held by the Portland Art Museum.
