About this work

A chromolithographic print by Kurz & Allison, dated 1893, depicts the Battle of Wilson's Creek of August 10, 1861. In the foreground, Union infantry in dark jackets and light blue trousers advance with rifles and bayonets while a mounted officer on a white horse leads them, and a regimental flag flies at left. Smoke, artillery and fallen soldiers fill the middle ground beneath a pale, cloudy sky.
