About this work
This 1882 chromolithographic-style print by Kurz & Allison, held by the Library of Congress, is a Prohibition-era political poster. It shows an armored knight defeating a fallen figure labeled Fanaticism, a Liberty figure with a serpent labeled Prohibition, and a crowned figure and Uncle Sam raising beer mugs, with a central banner reading Prohibition above satirical scenes of a women's platform meeting and liquor import figures.
