About this work
A hand-colored lithographic caricature shows two rival kitchens, labeled Cucina Inglese and Cucina Russa, with cooks and figures in regional costume tasting and mixing dishes. In the open doorway at center, two uniformed figures carry bread loaves and sausages, and a lithographic caption beneath the scene carries dialogue. The print is by Augusto Grossi and dated 1878, from the Papagallo series.
