About this work
A hand-colored lithograph titled Ostacoli alpinistici by Augusto Grossi, dated 1878, from the Papagallo series, number 32, year VI. Caricatured figures in national costumes climb a rugged mountain landscape marked with labels such as Russo, Armenia, Prussiano and Austria, while a giant eagle, a white ox and a man drinking from a bottle appear among the rocks. The Italian caption beneath reads that Berlin is the starting point and that the peaceful path has become a path of divisions and malcontents.
