About this work
A colored political cartoon from 1907 by John Samuel Pughe, titled The scarecrow of the Pacific. A large bald eagle perches on the shoulder of a striped, star-spotted Uncle Sam figure whose body is built from warships, while smaller birds in naval caps gather on the shore labeled JAPAN under a rising sun.
