About this work
A multi-panel color lithograph of humorous vignettes in an 18th-century costume style, with small scenes showing a lawyer with no clients, a preacher before empty pews, a farmer with no sales, and a husband caught in a lie on a staircase. A central panel shows a large man in a red coat pulling a smaller man by the collar across a grassy hillside.
