About this work
A colored political cartoon shows a draped female figure spinning a thread labeled human life, while a hooded old woman with a knife labeled disaster cuts at it. A stout man in a top hat, marked commercial lawlessness, holds bribery banknotes beside her, and a wrecked train lies in the foreground.
